Welcome to Abundant Life Chiropractic!

More importantly, welcome to your next step toward better health!

We all want to be healthier.  We all want a better life than what we currently have.

Unfortunately, many of us are trudging through our daily lives in bodies that aren't working quite as well as they should.

That's where our office comes in.

Why?

It's quite simple; we also want you to be healthier and have a better life.

Our mission at Abundant Life Chiropractic is to improve how your body functions, so that each day you can live a better life than you did the day before.

So how do we improve how you function?

To improve how your body works, we must address the control system of your body - your nervous system.

Chiropractic care helps improve your nervous system function thus enhancing how well your body adapts to the world around you. Improving how your body adapts and functions in your environment will enrich your overall health and experience of life.

What does a Chiropractor do?

Chiropractic care is a branch of health care that aims to promote health without the use of drugs or surgery (if either of these is necessary in your particular situation, our office will refer you to the appropriate provider for coordinated care).

Chiropractic care may be performed using any combination of various adjusting approaches to address your neurological function. Chiropractic adjustments are physical impulses delivered either by hand or instrument to the necessary area(s) of the body to elicit improvement in neurological function. There are hundreds of established chiropractic techniques for adjusting the body; each has its own method on how to analyze where/when an adjustment is necessary as well as a protocol on how to deliver the adjustment itself.

Improved neurological function helps optimize function in all other systems of your body; therefore improving your overall health.

Well that sounds great. . . but I'm in Pain!  How can you help me?

Firstly, you're not alone. Many of our clients initiate care at our office due to pain.

Though it is the primary issue many people seek to eliminate, pain is merely a secondary symptom resulting from another primary problem.

As frustrating and life altering as it may be, pain is necessary as an indicator that there is some degree of malfunction and/or damage in your body. The purposes of pain are to tell your conscious mind to stop doing things that may further harm the already damaged/malfunctioning parts of your body and to seek help.

In the absence of a specific incident (auto accident/sports injury/stubbed toe/etc.) that causes damage, pain arises when improper function within the body itself leads to damage. When the various parts of your body don't function properly, they break down. This damage may eventually become severe enough that pain signals are produced to notify your mind that there is a problem. In other words, the problem has existed longer than the pain has!

If you want to be rid of the pain, you have two options.

  • Mask/block the pain signals.  Or...
  • Address the malfunction that is resulting in the damage to your body.

Attempting to mask the symptom may provide immediate relief of the pain (at least short-term), but masking symptoms does nothing to correct why the pain/discomfort arose in the first place. Unfortunately, taking this approach may actually lead to further damage, because you are no longer conscious of the damage and may actually resume activity that further damages your body. Ultimately this may result in worse long-term pain once the pain-masking agent is no longer present.

Addressing malfunction on the other hand--while not guaranteed to yield immediate relief of your symptoms—is more likely to lead to long-term resolution. Correcting malfunction helps the body begin to work better. This allows the process of healing to happen instead of incurring further damage. As your body heals, there will be less need for pain signals to restrict your activity; thus your pain dissipates.

To put it simply: If you want to be out of pain, the best option is to address the underlying reason for the pain, not the secondary symptom of pain itself.

At Abundant Life Chiropractic, we strive to present care recommendations that will provide you with rapid improvement in function and, consequently, quicker relief of any pain/discomfort you may be experiencing.
